Manufacturing SEO · Prices checked 2026-08-06

A tools roundup organized by the job you need done.

With every price read off the vendor’s own page on one day.

Most “best SEO tools for manufacturing” lists are the same eight tools you would hand a dentist, with the word manufacturing pasted on top. This one is organized by the job — crawling a 4,000-SKU catalog, finding spec phrases, proving an RFQ came from organic — and it is built for SEO for manufacturers, where the bottleneck is usually product data, not blog posts.

Since 2016 Trusted by over 100 businesses Experts in Digital Marketing 9 prices verified
Part 1 · Method

Why most of this advice is wrong.

Search “best SEO tools for manufacturing” and almost everything on page one is published by somebody selling you a tool. Of the eight results we pulled, seven are vendor-owned or affiliate content, two are near-duplicates from the same vendor, and one is a dead URL. The single page carrying real prices is an affiliate post with no visible disclosure, and its numbers are now materially wrong: it lists Semrush plans called Pro, Guru, and Business, and those names appear nowhere on Semrush’s pricing page today.

So the method here is deliberately boring. On 6 August 2026 we opened each vendor’s own pricing page and read the number off it. Every price in this article carries that date, and every source URL is listed at the bottom. Where a vendor’s price could not be read — because the page returned an error, because the figures are drawn by JavaScript, or because the only number on the page lives in a meta description — we say so and print nothing. Those non-verifications are in the panel to the right, and we think they are the most useful part of the page.

Prices we could not verify

  • Moz Pro — pricing pages returned HTTP 403 to us
  • Sitebulb — figures render via JavaScript; body showed placeholders
  • CallRail — pricing page JS-rendered, no readable figures
  • AccuRanker — not checked this session
  • BrightLocal — “Price on request”; a number appears only in the meta description
  • Sales Layer, Thomasnet ads, CADENAS — quote-only by design

The second thing that separates a manufacturer from a dentist is not the industry label, it is three mechanisms. One: capability and spec phrases like “316L stainless deep drawing” or an ASME flange spec have volumes too low for mainstream keyword tools to report, so those tools round your best terms to zero. Your own Search Console data beats every paid keyword database on this. Two: the content problem is a product-data problem. Thousands of near-identical spec pages fed by six spreadsheets and a PDF is not fixed by a writing tool. Three: the conversion is an RFQ, not a cart, so measurement has to reach the quote and the won job or you cannot defend the budget.

That is why this list is grouped by job rather than by brand, and why two of the sections cover categories no ranking roundup mentions at all. If you want the strategy layer that sits above the tooling, start with manufacturing SEO strategy; if you want the query side in depth, see manufacturing keyword research.

Part 2 · Job one

Crawl the catalog and read the logs.

A crawler walks your site the way Googlebot does and surfaces, at scale, the thin, duplicated, orphaned, and accidentally noindexed pages that a 4,000-SKU catalog generates without anyone deciding to. Log file analysis goes one step further and shows where Googlebot actually spent its time — usually on faceted-navigation URLs instead of the product pages you care about. Prices below were read on each vendor’s page on 2026-08-06.

Screaming Frog

Screaming Frog SEO Spider

The desktop crawler most technical audits are actually run in. It reads response codes, titles, canonicals, hreflang, and structured data across the whole catalog and exports it to a spreadsheet you can sort.

  • £199 per licence per year (1–4 licences); £189 at 5–9, £179 at 10–19, £169 at 20+
  • Free version crawls 500 URLs
  • Per the vendor FAQ, a licence is required to save and open crawls and to use configuration options, custom extraction, custom source code search, GA and Search Console integration, and JavaScript rendering

The highest-return paid tool in a manufacturer’s stack, and the first wall a catalog site hits.

Screaming Frog

Screaming Frog Log File Analyser

Ingests raw server logs and shows which URLs Googlebot requested, how often, and what it got back. On a large catalog it is the most revealing audit you can run, and almost nobody runs it.

  • £99 per year
  • Free tier: 1,000 log events, one project
  • Needs server log access — ask IT before you scope the project, not after

For any site where faceted navigation may be eating crawl budget.

Ahrefs

Ahrefs Site Audit

A cloud crawler inside the wider Ahrefs platform, useful when you want scheduled recrawls and a shareable dashboard rather than a desktop export.

  • Ahrefs Free gives 5,000 Site Audit crawl credits per month per project, across unlimited verified sites
  • Paid: Starter $29/mo, Lite $129/mo, Standard $249/mo, Advanced $449/mo, Enterprise $1,499/mo
  • Ahrefs Free is the current name — the vendor page states “Ahrefs Webmaster Tools is now Ahrefs Free”

Good second crawler; the free tier stacks usefully on top of Screaming Frog’s 500-URL cap.

Sitebulb

A crawler with unusually good audit explanations — it tells you why an issue matters, not just that it exists, which makes it easy to hand findings to a developer.

  • Price not published here: the pricing page renders its figures with JavaScript and showed only placeholders when we read it on 2026-08-06
  • 14-day free trial, no card required
  • Check the vendor page directly for current rates

Worth trialling if you need audit reports a non-SEO can act on.

Part 3 · Jobs two and three

Find the terms engineers type, then brief the page.

Here is the mechanism that breaks mainstream keyword tools in industrial B2B. Their volume estimates come from clickstream and ad data, and a phrase searched forty times a month by exactly the forty buyers who matter gets reported as zero. So a manufacturer who researches only in a keyword database systematically deletes the best terms in the account. Lead with your own Search Console data, then use the paid tools for competitor gap analysis and tracking. This is why process and material capability pages and fabrication capability searches get built from Search Console exports rather than from a keyword tool’s suggestions. Prices verified on each vendor’s page on 2026-08-06.

Google

Google Search Console

Your real query data: every phrase that produced an impression, with position and click-through. It tolerates zero-volume terms because it is not estimating anything — it is reporting what happened.

  • Free to use with a verified property
  • Search performance, index coverage, sitemaps, and rich result status reports
  • Filter to queries containing a material, a process, or a spec pattern to find capability phrases no database will show you

Non-negotiable, and for low-volume capability terms it outperforms every paid keyword tool.

Google

Google Keyword Planner

Google’s own keyword tool, useful mainly as a sanity check on whether a phrase family exists at all and how Google groups related wording.

  • Google describes it as “a free keyword search tool”
  • Requires a Google Ads account, and access opens after you create a campaign
  • Ranges are wide without ad spend — treat output as directional

Free, and worth the account setup for the phrase-grouping alone.

Semrush

The broadest all-in-one: keyword database, competitor gap analysis, position tracking, and site audit in one login. Best used for finding which competitors rank for your capability phrases.

  • SEO $139/mo, Starter $199/mo, Pro+ $299/mo, Advanced $549/mo
  • Billed annually: $117.33, $165.17, $248.17, $455.67 per month
  • Free account: 10 queries a day, 10 tracked keywords, a 100-page site audit, one site. Seven-day trial on paid plans

Pick it if one person needs one tool for everything; see Semrush alternatives before committing.

SE Ranking

A lighter platform with rank tracking, competitor research, and site audit. Often the sensible choice when you need daily positions on a defined keyword set rather than a research database.

  • Core $129/mo, Growth $279/mo on monthly billing
  • Annual billing: $103.20 and $223.20 per month; Enterprise is custom
  • 14-day free trial, no card required

Strong value for tracking capability terms — see our SE Ranking review and SE Ranking alternatives.

Clearscope

A content brief tool. It reads what currently ranks for a term and tells you which concepts a page has to cover — helpful when an engineer writes the technical truth and a marketer has to make it rank.

  • Essentials $129/mo, Business $399/mo, Enterprise custom
  • 14-day free trial
  • Most valuable on capability and application pages, least valuable on part-number pages

For teams publishing real technical content monthly, not for catalog pages.

Surfer

The other common brief-and-optimize tool, with an editor that scores a draft against the terms currently ranking.

  • Discovery $49/mo, Standard $99/mo, Pro $182/mo, Peace of Mind $299/mo — all shown billed yearly
  • Enterprise is shown at 999 USD per month next to “Tailored packages” — the only tier not labeled billed yearly, so read it as a starting point
  • No separate month-to-month rate was displayed for any tier
  • AI Search Analytics is a separate add-on at $158/mo, billed yearly

Cheaper entry than Clearscope; confirm the monthly rate with the vendor before you budget.

Part 4 · Job four

Analytics, Core Web Vitals, and the names that changed.

This section is the reason to trust the rest of the page. Half the tools in a typical manufacturing roundup are recommended under names their vendors have retired, which tells you the author has not opened the product since the article was first drafted. Here is the current state of the free measurement layer as of 2026-08-06.

Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools

Search Console is the only place your true query, index, and rich-result data lives. Verify the property before anything else, submit the XML sitemap, and check index coverage on the product templates specifically — a catalog site usually has whole page types silently excluded.

Bing Webmaster Tools is worth the twenty minutes it takes to set up, and it is worth disproportionately more in industrial B2B than in consumer categories. Engineering workstations are Windows-heavy and often locked to default browsers, so a share of your buyers arrives through Bing that a consumer brand would never see.

GA4 and Data Studio — check your bookmarks

Google’s reporting tool has been renamed back to Data Studio. Google’s own documentation now carries the notice “Looker Studio is now called Data Studio,” describes it as a no-cost tool, and lookerstudio.google.com redirects to datastudio.google.com. You can confirm the redirect yourself in ten seconds, which is more than can be said for most claims in this genre.

Every competing manufacturing roundup we read still calls it Looker Studio. There is also a Data Studio Pro tier whose price is not disclosed on that page, so we are not quoting one. Pair GA4 with Data Studio for a free reporting layer, and read Google’s Data Studio documentation rather than a three-year-old blog post.

PageSpeed Insights and the current thresholds

PageSpeed Insights reports two different things and people conflate them constantly. Field data comes from the Chrome UX Report on a trailing 28-day window and is what Google actually observes from real users. Lab data is a Lighthouse simulation on a mid-tier device, useful for debugging but not the number that counts.

The current Core Web Vitals thresholds are LCP at 2.5 seconds or under, INP at 200 milliseconds or under, and CLS at 0.1 or under. INP became a stable Core Web Vital in 2024, replacing FID — if your reporting still tracks FID, it is measuring a metric that no longer exists. On manufacturing sites the LCP offender is almost always uncompressed product photography or an eagerly-loaded 3D viewer, which is why industrial equipment SEO lives or dies on image discipline.

Structured data: two tools, and two that are gone

Validate Product, Organization, and spec markup with the Rich Results Test for Google eligibility and the Schema Markup Validator for schema.org correctness. Both are free and unlimited.

Two tools you will still find recommended do not exist. Google removed its Google-specific validation from the Structured Data Testing Tool and migrated the tool to a new domain as the Schema Markup Validator. And the Mobile-Friendly Test was retired in December 2023, per Google’s own notice. Any list still recommending either was not checked before publication.

Clarity and Squoosh: two free tools that punch above their weight

Microsoft Clarity is free forever with no traffic limits, and it records session replays and heatmaps. Watching an engineer fill in two-thirds of your RFQ form and abandon it at the “estimated annual volume” field is worth more than a quarter of dashboard analysis.

Squoosh is a free, open-source image compressor from GoogleChromeLabs that runs locally in the browser — images never leave the device, which matters when the photograph is of an unreleased assembly. It is the fastest fix for the oversized product imagery that wrecks LCP. For more no-cost tooling see our $5 SEO stack, and for the AI-answer layer see best AI visibility tools.

An open spiral notebook with handwritten lines struck through sits on a wooden desk beside a pencil, a coffee mug, calipers, and a machined metal block.
Vendors retire product names faster than roundups get updated, so a tool list is only worth reading if someone has been crossing things off it.
Part 5 · The missing category

Product data is the real bottleneck.

Not one roundup in the ranking set names a single product-information tool. They recommend keyword tools and writing tools to businesses whose actual problem is that the torque rating for a part exists in four places with three different values. If your specs live in six spreadsheets, an ERP export, and a PDF that only one person can edit, no amount of SEO tooling fixes the pages — you will publish thin, inconsistent, unindexable product pages faster, that is all. A PIM is a single source of truth for attributes and descriptions that feeds the website, the catalog, and the distributor portal from one record. The sprawl is worst for contract manufacturers, who inherit every customer’s naming convention, and for chemical manufacturers, whose safety data sheets and technical datasheets have to stay versioned and findable at the same time.

Plytix

A product information manager aimed at small and mid-size brands, with attribute management, asset storage, and channel-ready exports. The free tier is genuinely free rather than a disguised trial.

  • Standard $0/mo — 500 SKUs, 500 credits a month, unlimited seats
  • Pro $499/mo — 50,000 SKUs; Enterprise custom
  • Unlimited seats on the free plan means engineering can correct a spec without buying a licence

If you have under 500 SKUs, this solves your biggest SEO problem for nothing.

Akeneo

Akeneo Community Edition

The open-source edition of a well-established enterprise PIM. You download it, install it on your own infrastructure, and the code is public.

  • Akeneo describes it as “our forever-free PIM”
  • Open source, self-hosted — you supply the server and the maintenance
  • No SKU ceiling of the kind hosted free tiers impose

The right answer when SKU count is large and you have IT willing to host it.

Sales Layer

A hosted PIM with connectors aimed at manufacturers and distributors, sold by quote against seat and SKU tiers rather than a published rate card.

  • No public pricing — we are not printing a number for it
  • Tiers are capped by users and SKUs, from roughly 5 users and 10,000 SKUs up to enterprise
  • 30-day free trial

Worth a quote if you need connectors to distributor and marketplace channels out of the box.

Part 6 · The other missing category

Connect the session to the quote.

Every roundup we read ends measurement at “install GA4.” None of them connect an organic session to an RFQ, a quote, and a won job. That is the only chain that matters, because a manufacturing sales cycle can run months and the RFQ that closed in November came from a session in June. If you cannot show that chain, your SEO budget is the easiest line item to cut. It is hardest and most valuable for machine builders, where a single quote cycle can outlast the reporting window entirely. Prices below verified 2026-08-06.

WhatConverts

Captures calls, forms, and chats as leads, then keeps the source, medium, and landing page attached to each one — so a quote request carries its origin all the way into your reporting.

  • Single account: Call Tracking $30/mo, Plus $60/mo, Pro $100/mo, Elite $160/mo
  • Agency plans: Plus $500/mo, Pro $800/mo, Elite $1,250/mo
  • 14-day free trial

The cheapest honest answer to “did SEO produce an RFQ,” and the entry tier is enough for one plant.

CallRail

Call tracking with recording and conversation intelligence, plus form tracking. Relevant because a meaningful share of industrial RFQs still start as a phone call to a named engineer.

  • Price not published here: the pricing page is JavaScript-rendered and returned no readable figures on 2026-08-06
  • The help center confirms the package names — Call Tracking Intelligence, Premium Conversation Intelligence, Form Tracking, Voice Assist — and explicitly declines to list prices
  • Request a quote rather than trusting a third-party figure

Evaluate against WhatConverts if phone is your dominant RFQ channel.

Google Analytics 4

GA4 plus offline conversion import

The free half of the job. Capture the source on the RFQ form itself, push it into the CRM as a field on the record, and import the won-job value back so revenue is joined to the channel that produced it.

  • Free with GA4 and most CRMs, including HubSpot
  • Stamp a hidden source field on every RFQ form — this is the single highest-value hour of dev work in the program
  • Report on quote value and win rate by landing page, not sessions

Do this first regardless of which paid tool you choose; it is the part that survives a budget review.

Prices checked August 2026

Sixteen tools, nine published prices, and seven we refuse to guess.

Every figure below was read off the vendor’s own pricing page in August 2026. The enterprise platforms that quote privately are listed with no number at all — because an invented price is worse than no price when you are building a budget.

The evidence rule on this table

A price only appears here if we could load the vendor’s own pricing page and read the number off it. Seven vendors publish no price and quote per account — those rows say “Not verified” and stay that way until a figure is published. We do not estimate, average, or repeat a number from a third-party round-up.

Scroll the table sideways to see all four columns.

On the figures: every price is reproduced exactly as the vendor listed it on their own pricing page on the date checked (August 2026). Both £ and $ appear because that is how each vendor publishes — nothing on this table is currency-converted, and no exchange rate is implied. Plans named in the table are the entry tier quoted; higher tiers cost more. Vendors change prices without notice, so treat this as a snapshot, not a quote.

On sorting by price: the price sort orders each vendor’s published figure on a monthly basis, dividing annual licences by twelve, and ignores currency. Rows with no published price always sort to the bottom in both directions — they are absent evidence, not a high or low number.

Get a tool stack matched to your shop

Part 7 · A different purchase

Industrial directories and CAD portals are not SEO tools.

Only one page in the ranking set mentions Thomasnet, and it lists it beside Semrush as though they do the same job. They do not. A directory listing is a lead channel you buy placement in; an SEO tool is something you use to earn rankings on your own domain. Confusing the two is how manufacturers end up judging a directory contract by its backlink value instead of its cost per RFQ. Claim the free profiles first, measure what they send, and only then evaluate paid placement — the same discipline any competent manufacturing SEO agency should apply.

Thomasnet

The best-known North American industrial directory. Its own site states you can “claim your company profile with no fees and no commitment,” so start there. Advertising programs are quote-only and no public rate card exists — treat any figure you find on an agency blog as an estimate, not a price.

GlobalSpec and IndustryNet

GlobalSpec runs industrial catalogs and a product directory covering, by its own count, more than 15 million products and services. IndustryNet claims over 350,000 industrial suppliers and states it is free to use with no registration required. Neither publishes supplier pricing; both are worth a claimed listing.

TraceParts

A CAD portal that claims more than 100 million CAD models and product datasheets, free to the engineers who download from it. For component makers this is demand capture at the exact moment a part is being designed in. Publisher pricing is not disclosed.

CADENAS PARTsolutions and 3Dfindit

The other major CAD catalog platform, claiming 750 million CAD downloads across more than 1,000 manufacturer catalogs. Demo-only, no public pricing. Whichever portal you use, also publish an indexable HTML spec table beside every PDF and CAD file — a gated download ranks for nothing.

Search “best SEO tools for manufacturing” and almost everything on page one is published by somebody selling you a tool.

Part 8 · Sequencing

Assemble the stack in this order.

A manufacturer can run a legitimate program at zero cost for a while, and you should, because it tells you exactly where free breaks. Free breaks in five predictable places: crawling past 500 URLs, historical rank tracking, competitor keyword gap analysis, log analysis beyond 1,000 events, and closed-loop RFQ attribution. When you hit one of those walls, you have found your first purchase. Buy in the order below rather than starting with the platform everyone markets hardest, and if you would rather not run the crawl yourself, that is what our SEO services are for.

Step 01

Run the free layer

Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, GA4 with Data Studio, Clarity, Squoosh, Rich Results Test, and free directory profiles. Costs nothing and exposes your real constraints.

Step 02

Buy the crawler

A Screaming Frog licence at £199 a year is the highest-return upgrade once your catalog passes 500 URLs. Add the £99 Log File Analyser if crawl budget looks wasted.

Step 03

Instrument the RFQ

Stamp source data on the quote form and push it to the CRM. Add lead tracking from $30 a month if you need calls and forms attributed.

Step 04

Then a platform or PIM

One all-in-one platform for research and tracking. Add a PIM only when SKUs outgrow a free tier — Plytix is free to 500, Akeneo Community Edition is free and self-hosted.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

Don’t see your question? Call (808) 758-5058.

Do I need both Semrush and Ahrefs, or will one do?

One is almost always enough for a manufacturer. They overlap heavily on keyword data, backlinks, and site audit, and the second subscription buys you a slightly different index rather than a different capability. Pick the one whose rank tracking and competitor gap reports you will actually open weekly, and spend the difference on a Screaming Frog licence and attribution instead.

Can I run manufacturing SEO with only free tools?

For a while, yes, and it is a sensible way to start. Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, GA4 with Data Studio, Microsoft Clarity, Squoosh, the Rich Results Test, and a free PIM tier cover more ground than most people expect. Free breaks in five specific places: crawling past 500 URLs, historical rank tracking, competitor keyword gap analysis, log file analysis beyond 1,000 events, and closed-loop RFQ attribution.

Is a Thomasnet listing worth it for a manufacturer?

Claim the free profile — Thomasnet's own site says you can do so with no fees and no commitment, so there is no reason not to. Paid advertising is a separate decision and is sold by quote, with no public rate card, so judge it as a lead channel on cost per qualified RFQ rather than as an SEO tactic. Figures you find on agency blogs are estimates, not vendor-confirmed prices.

What is the best SEO tool for a site with thousands of product pages?

Screaming Frog SEO Spider, licensed. The free version stops at 500 URLs and, per Screaming Frog's own FAQ, excludes JavaScript rendering, custom extraction, Search Console integration, and the ability to save and reopen a crawl — all of which you need on a catalog. At GBP 199 per licence per year, verified on the vendor's pricing page on 6 August 2026, it is the highest-return purchase in the stack.

How do I prove SEO produced an RFQ?

Stamp the traffic source onto the quote form itself as a hidden field, carry that field into the CRM record, then import the won-job value back into your analytics. That gives you revenue by landing page rather than sessions by channel. A lead tracking tool such as WhatConverts, from 30 dollars a month on its published single-account tier, does the capture side if you also need calls and chats attributed.

Do I need a PIM, or is my CMS enough?

If your specs live in one place and one team edits them, your CMS is fine. If the same torque rating appears with different values in a spreadsheet, an ERP export, and a PDF, you have a product-data problem that no SEO tool will fix. Plytix has a free tier up to 500 SKUs and Akeneo publishes a free open-source Community Edition, so testing the idea costs nothing but time.

Conclusion

Buy the tool that fixes your actual constraint.

Every price on this page was read off the vendor’s own pricing page on 6 August 2026, and every one of those URLs is in the sources list below. Where a vendor’s price could not be read that day — Moz Pro returned a 403, Sitebulb and CallRail render their figures with JavaScript, BrightLocal shows “price on request,” and AccuRanker went unchecked — we named the tool and printed no number. Prices change; check the source link before you sign anything, and treat any roundup that will not tell you when it last looked as out of date by default.

The sequencing matters more than the shortlist. Run the free layer until it breaks, buy the crawler when your catalog outgrows 500 URLs, instrument the RFQ form before you buy another subscription, and add a PIM only when your SKU count demands one. If you want a second opinion on which constraint is actually binding on your site, talk to us — we will tell you if the answer is a tool, and we will tell you when it isn’t.
