Case study · Catering

From Instagram DMs to a custom website with the 80s surfer vibe their food deserves.

Shibiz is my brother-in-law and sister’s catering business — three days a week at the Maui Swap Meet, pop-ups in Hali’imaile, and an Instagram inbox running their booking system. They needed a real website that captured the vibe and converted DMs into bookings. We built it.

The work, on every device

Mobile-first because that’s where the customers are.

Sixty-plus percent of Hawaii local-business searches happen on a phone. Every Digital Reach build ships fast on 4G with conversion CTAs above the fold.

“I didn’t know our website could look like this. Nobody who DMs us has anything bad to say — they all want to know who built it.”

How we ran the play

The four moves behind the result.

  1. 01

Discovery: where the bookings actually came from

Sister was fielding catering inquiries through Instagram DMs because there was no central site. Lost a lot of leads to the inbox. The pain point wasn’t search — it was conversion + organization.

  2. 02

    Custom 80s-surfer-vibe build

Hand-coded the design around a bold 80s surfer color palette + custom illustrations. Pop-up schedule, menu, catering form. Mobile-first because most discovery happens on the phone.

  3. 03

    Launch + Instagram tie-in

Coordinated the launch with an Instagram content sequence — feature posts, before/after stories, pop-up announcements with the new URL. The DM volume spiked the week of launch and never went back down.

  4. 04

    Planned: SEO + maintenance retainer

Now layering on SEO for “Maui catering”, “private catering Maui”, “Hali’imaile food”. Monthly maintenance for plugin updates + local backup + light copy edits, billed at the standard $200/mo local-biz rate.

Family + community

Family + community — why it matters.

Shibiz is family. A lot of why I built Digital Reach was to help people exactly like my sister + Justin — talented operators who never had the tech help to put their work online the way it deserves.
