SEO for Remodelers · Remodeler SEO

SEO for remodelers that attracts better-fit projects.

The demand modes, the project-page engine, and what a better-fit project is

Digital Reach opened in 2016 and has worked on search for service businesses ever since, out of Wailuku. This page is remodeler SEO in full: why kitchen, bath, whole-home and design-build work get found in different ways, what a project page has to carry to rank and to sell, and where search sits inside home remodeling marketing.

Direct answer

The scope of remodeler SEO at Digital Reach.

SEO for remodelers and SEO for remodeling companies describe the same work: being found while a homeowner decides what to build and who to trust. The scoreboard for remodeler SEO is better-fit consultations, signed design agreements and projects you actually build — not sessions, and not a position in a results list. Digital Reach runs it month-to-month: service and service-area pages, the Google Business Profile, a project-page engine built from your jobs, and measurement that follows an inquiry to signed project value.

One template does not stretch across it. A kitchen buyer, a whole-home client living through the work, and a design-build prospect are three searches with three conversion events. Inside home remodeling marketing, search is the part of the system you own outright.

Who this page is for

  • Remodeling companies that show up for their own company name and almost nothing else.
  • Remodelers whose inquiries keep landing under the size they want.
  • Design-build firms converting on a design consultation, not an estimate.
01 · Difference

Remodeling is a researched purchase, not an emergency call.

A burst pipe and a kitchen gut are both home-services search, and nothing about the two jobs is the same. The emergency playbook — be close, be open, be first — answers a question your buyer is not asking.

Four things change. The purchase is researched, so the site has to be useful long before it is commercial. Trust is checked harder: a crew works inside an occupied home, around a family still living in it. The shortlist is local without being proximity-driven. And capacity caps it: booked crews need better-fit inquiries, not more of them.

Which searches describe the kitchens, baths and whole-home jobs you actually want to build, at a volume your crews can absorb — that is the question, and it is a different question from how to rank in a city.

Renovation activity, 2025

  • Houzz & Home, released 2026 (2025 activity): 54% of surveyed U.S. homeowners renovated in 2025 — a self-selected panel of 20,000+ Houzz users, covering small upgrades through additions.
  • Median spend $20,000, top 10% at $150,000+ — same 2025 panel, so $20,000 is not the average remodeler project and $150,000+ is not a target. The spread is the point: “a renovation lead” covers jobs an order of magnitude apart.
02 · Demand

Four demand modes, four different pages.

Kitchen remodeling

The most visual and most researched of the four. Layout, cabinetry, surfaces, cost and timeline questions arrive before anyone searches “kitchen remodeler” plus a city. What answers it: a kitchen service page, project pages carrying real before-and-after pairs, and cost explainers, with a design consultation as the conversion event.

Bathroom remodeling

Project-type and local intent arrive closer together. Waterproofing, accessibility, fixtures, tile and how long a household loses the room decide it. What answers it: a bath page matched to the trades you are licensed and staffed for, backed by completed-bath projects.

Whole-home renovation

More stakeholders, longer planning, a household living through the work. Process, phasing and portfolio depth outweigh any keyword. What holds that reader: phasing and process content, deep project pages, and fit qualification raised up front.

Design-build

Buyers compare one-team design and construction against an architect-led or bid-based route, well before they choose a builder. What serves them: comparison and process content, renderings and selections shown as proof, and a design consultation or agreement as the conversion event rather than a free-estimate request.

Additions, basements and aging-in-place work sit alongside those four and belong on your site only if you sell them. NAHB’s 2026 remodeling outlook — a survey of its own remodeler members, not a census of the trade — reported 56% of surveyed remodelers doing aging-in-place work and 73% saying requests had risen over five years. Check that against your own book.

03 · Kitchen

Kitchen demand gets a section here, and a cluster on your site.

Kitchen work behaves differently from the rest of the book: more image searching, more cost research, more comparison, and a longer gap between the first search and the first call. That earns it a section here and a page cluster on your own site — not a second version of this page.

For scale, and only as a forecast: NKBA projects the 2026 kitchen-and-bath industry at $228 billion, with repair and remodeling spending up 2.9% and professional-led renovation up 4.4% against 0.6% for DIY — an association forecast covering kitchen and bath only, its methodology behind a paid report, so not realized revenue and not your opportunity size.

Cost and timeline guidesWhat moves the number, and how long the room is out of use.Qualified inquiry
Before-and-after galleryProof at a glance, in your own photography.Assists; rarely the entry page

Two boundaries. Cost content explains what moves a number for your scope and your market; it never repeats a national figure, because the ranges competitors publish carry no defined scope, geography or source. Resale-return estimates stay off the page: modelled, geography-sensitive numbers, not money a homeowner banks.

“Kitchen remodeler” plus a city is the query with the clearest hiring intent, and your kitchen service page plus a genuine service-area page is what competes for it — not a separate national kitchen essay competing with this one.

A kitchen mid-remodel in soft afternoon light, cabinets removed to open stud walls, a dust sheet over the floor and a single work lamp on a sawhorse table.
Illustrative photograph, not a client project. Kitchen, bath, whole-home and design-build demand are found in different ways.
04 · System

The remodeler SEO system.

Seven workstreams. The audit decides which one moves first, so this is not a menu you pick from on a set cadence. You will not find a page count or a link count anywhere in it, which is deliberate. Committing to an output number counts activity, and activity is not a signed design agreement. What is left is plain, patient work aimed at a remodeling company that sells from a ringing phone and can only run so many jobs side by side.

The seven workstreams
WorkstreamDeliverableYour inputHow it is measured
Technical and indexationCrawling, indexing, speed and markup faults, ranked by what is blocking the pages that sell, then fixed.CMS or developer access.Fixes shipped, pages indexed.
Service pagesOne page per revenue line, written to the scope you take. What you sell profitably.Coverage across the searches those lines attract.
Service-area pagesPages only for places your crews work. The real radius, and where you say no.Entry pages by area.
Profile, citations, reviewsCategories and service list corrected, one canonical name, address and phone, and a review habit your office will actually keep.Profile access, a reviews owner.Calls, directions, review recency.
Project engineOne indexable project page per documented job.Site photographs and job facts, with the homeowner’s permission to publish.Entry pages, assisted inquiries.
Cost and comparison contentThe explainers a buyer reads before calling.Your real ranges and process.Query coverage, assisted inquiries.
Authority and internal linksMentions someone would stand behind in public, pointed at the pages that sell.Introductions, permission to publish.Referring domains, position by group.

As an example only, and your own map comes out of the audit: a design-build remodeler covering three counties might run a page per service line, a page per county served, a project page per completed job, a few cost explainers and one comparison page. A shape, not a quota.

Two platform rules sit underneath all seven. On the profile side, Google’s position is that a service-area business keeps one profile for the central location it works from, with service areas set to where crews genuinely travel; a virtual office, or a profile name padded with remodeling keywords, breaks its representation rules (representing your business, service-area guidance). On the markup side, the rule is that structured data has to describe what a page genuinely contains (structured-data policies) — valid markup earns no rich result by itself, and buys no place in an AI answer.

Deliberately absent: a town-name template cloned across places your crews never reach, which is the pattern Google’s spam policies name as doorway pages; a fixed output quota; and a calendar date attached to a ranking.

A town-name template cloned across places your crews never reach, a fixed output quota, a calendar date attached to a ranking: all three are deliberately absent.

05 · Portfolio

Project pages that rank and sell.

Most remodeler portfolios are a gallery. Built as pages, one per documented job, the portfolio answers “has this company done my project, at my size, near me” — and reaches the specific queries a service page cannot.

What each project page carries, where you can substantiate it and have permission:

  • Before-and-after pairs, your own photography, with descriptive image text.
  • Project type and the city or service area — never a private street address.
  • The homeowner’s problem, and the scope you actually delivered.
  • Constraints, selections, and the decisions that changed the plan.
  • A truthful budget band and timeline, if the homeowner approves disclosure.
  • Completed-result photos and a permissioned review.
  • Links to the matching service and service-area pages.

Every fact and photograph comes from you. We do not invent a location, a duration, a review or a result, and stock imagery never runs as your work. Descriptive image text is part of doing it properly; alone it produces no image-search rankings. What we can show sits in the portfolio, as agency work rather than remodeling proof.

06 · Lead quality

Better-fit projects, not more form fills.

This page is written around a $25,000–$80,000 project-fit band — a positioning band supplied for this page, describing the size of work the approach is aimed at. Not an industry average, not a published statistic, and not a Digital Reach result.

The fit dimensions we score against, each a yes or no about your business:

  • You can name the three to five project types you want more of.
  • You have a service area your crews cover, and decline work outside it.
  • Your minimum project size is a number you would say out loud.
  • You know what an average signed project is worth to you.
  • You have capacity for the work a campaign would create.
  • You own the website, the Google Business Profile, Search Console and analytics.
  • You have original photographs of finished projects, cleared to publish.
  • Past homeowners will approve having their project described publicly.
  • One person can approve copy and settle a factual question quickly.

Intake does the rest: project type, ZIP or service area, start window, ownership status, honest budget band. Handyman repairs, insurance work, commercial fit-outs and sub-threshold projects get a plain answer, not a form.

The stages after that run inquiry, qualified consultation, estimate or design agreement, signed project value. Search and form data cover the first two. The last two are reported only where your CRM actually holds them.

Settle the basics first

Settle the basics first. Most of these are business decisions, not marketing ones — until they are settled, a campaign has nothing to grip.

No name, email or phone number is asked for anywhere in this worksheet, and it resets when you leave the page. Print it or take a screenshot if you want to keep it.

07 · AI visibility

What an assistant repeats when a homeowner asks it for a remodeler.

When a homeowner asks ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity who should remodel a kitchen, or skims an AI Overview instead of the results under it, the names that come back were assembled out of what the open web already says about each remodeling company. None of that is a placement you can buy or a form you can file, and structured data opens no side door: Google's rules treat markup as a description of the page it sits on, not a route into an answer. What an assistant chooses to say stays outside anyone's control, this agency very much included.

  • Every page opening with the answer itself, worded the way a homeowner talks about the room they want redone.
  • Facts with edges on them: which remodels you take, which towns your crews reach, which project sizes you build.
  • Headings that tell the truth about the section under them, so a paragraph survives being quoted on its own.
  • Job-level and place-level specifics from work you have finished, which a template page has no way to manufacture.
  • Your listed name, address and phone identical everywhere a remodeling company appears, and identical to the site and the profile.
  • Outside sources describing the same remodeling company your own pages describe.
08 · Timing

Build before the season, not during it.

Core service, cost and project pages take time to be found, so they go up before your inquiry peak. Which month that is depends on your market, not a national assumption.

Project media and the profile are maintained year-round. When crews are booked the lever is qualification, not spend: a higher minimum project size, a tighter start window.

One signal, and its limits

  • HIRI, 2023: 47% of kitchen-remodel consideration and 39% of decisions fell in Q1, with 61% of starts between March and July — older association research mixing DIY and professional scope, so a directional signal, not a rule.
  • Before planning on it: validate against your own CRM and Search Console. Coastal, Sun Belt, storm-driven and interior-only markets do not share a season.
09 · Terms

Remodeler, general contractor, design-build.

These three labels overlap, which is not the same as being interchangeable, and none of them is settled nationally. Definitions and required classifications vary by state, so your licenses, categories and scope stay yours to confirm.

10 · Proof

Why Digital Reach.

Two counts that never merge

Digital Reach runs 10+ active retainers right now. Separately, it has worked with over 100 businesses across 10-plus years — a lifetime figure, not a current client list. Neither figure is ever stacked on the other, and no industry breakdown sits behind either one, so neither of them counts remodelers.

No remodeler case study

There is no permissioned remodeler engagement with published results here, and borrowing a number from another industry to stand in for remodeling proof would not be proof of anything. What you get instead is a strategy written for kitchens, baths, whole-home work and design-build, plus agency work you can open and read in the portfolio.

Founded 2016, and who sits in the accounts

Founded in 2016, working from 25 Kamaha'o Street, Wailuku, HI 96793 — a Hawaii base, and the only one, serving local and national clients. Shane Perry, Founder and Lead SEO Strategist, is the person inside your accounts. Terms are plain: month-to-month, 30 days' notice, and your name on every account. About us carries the rest.

11 · Investment

What moves the scope.

This page prints no fee, and that is not evasion. You would not hand a homeowner a kitchen number before walking the space and hearing the selections; a retainer quoted before anyone has opened your site, your markets and your project archive is the same trick run backwards.

The inputs a remodeling scope is priced against:

  • Whether you sell into one town, one county, or a handful of markets, and how many service areas have to be named on the site.
  • How many of the four demand modes you sell, and how many service lines sit under them.
  • The state of the site you already have: can copy be edited in-house, can a crawler reach every project page, does a gallery load on a phone.
  • How much finished-project photography and written content already exists, and how much of it can actually be published.
  • Category competition in the markets you actually sell into, driven more by where you are than by whether you do kitchens or additions.
  • Whether calls, forms and signed-project outcomes can be measured today, or the measurement has to be built first.

Our pricing methodology publishes the reasoning behind every pricing input. The calculator itself sits on the local twin linked below, where a remodeler prices under the home_services business multiplier.

12 · Hawaii

Remodeling in Hawaii?

The state we work from has a page of its own. That page adds what this one leaves out: the state licensing context a homeowner checks before hiring a remodeler, service-area logic for a geography where one profile cannot be locally relevant everywhere, and a pricing calculator you can run against your own scope before speaking to anyone. None of what you have just read is replaced there: the demand modes, the workstreams and the fit rules read the same on either page.

13 · Questions

Frequently Asked Questions.

Don’t see your question? Call (808) 758-5058.

What does SEO for remodelers include?

Technical and indexation work first, then service pages for the revenue lines you sell, service-area pages only where your crews work, the Google Business Profile with citations and reviews, a project page per documented job, and cost and timeline content.

SEO or Google Ads for a remodeling company?

They do different jobs. Ads rent placement for as long as you fund them, and the placement goes when the funding goes. Organic pages and the profile collect homeowners who are already looking, and what you build there keeps working after it is published — but nothing you publish rings the phone this afternoon. Most remodeling companies end up running both.

How long before anything moves?

Anyone who hands you a figure for that is guessing, because no honest one exists. Four things set the pace on a remodeling site: what technical debt it is already carrying, whether the Google Business Profile is in good order, how hard your categories are fought over in your own market, and whether approved work actually gets published or sits waiting on a photo release.

Do project and portfolio pages really help?

They answer what a service page cannot: has this company done my project, at my size, near me. Built as indexable pages rather than one gallery, they reach long specific queries and carry the proof a buyer checks.

Is a remodeler the same as a general contractor?

Not the same thing, and not opposites either. Remodeler names the residential alteration market you sell into. General contractor names a project-management role and, in many states, a license classification a lot of remodeling companies already carry. Design-build layers a design function on top and moves the conversion event earlier.

Do you work with remodelers outside Hawaii?

Yes. The office is in Wailuku, delivery is remote and senior-led, and the campaign is built on your market's competitive set rather than ours. Remodelers in our home state have a page of their own, linked above.
